BRIEF
The Harmonious Chorale-Ghana is a multiple award winning non – denominational, semi-professional Choir established in the capital of Ghana, Accra, in 2005 as a Quartet which later transformed into a full-fledged Choir in October 2007. Through dedication and hard-work, The Harmonious Chorale has carved for itself a niche and an identity which has provided mentoring opportunity for many choral groups in and outside Ghana, staging over thirty five (35) well executed and attended concerts in Ghana alone.
The Choir has a numeric strength of sixty (60) singers, with a four (4) man “keyboard-orchestra” and two (2) trumpeters under the baton of its Founder and leader, Mr. James Varrick Armaah, a prolific Composer and Music Director, who has several compositions including the multiple award winning song “OYE” AKA “ASEMPAPA BIA M’ATE”. Rev. Dr. Joyce R. Aryee serves as the Executive Chairperson of the choir. Harmonious Chorale is the resident choir of the Salt and Light Music Ministry, an arm of the Salt and Light Ministries; a para-church organisation with the aim of motivating and encouraging the body of Christ to live productive Christian lives.
The choir currently has produced twelve (12) albums, and can boast of a strong followership on Facebook and YouTube with over 45,000 followers and 16,000 subscribers respectively. Our combined video views on YouTube has gone over 10 million.
PARTNERSHIPS
Harmonious Chorale has worked with world acclaimed Conductors such as Mr. Lahnor Adjetey Adjei (Germany) and Mr. Michael Dingaan (South Africa), and also performed alongside Margaret Ferguson, “Africa’s Lady of songs” based in the UK. In 2014, The Harmonious Chorale joined a host of world class Artistes such as Don Moen, Sinach, Angela Christie and Lionel Peterson at the Akwa Ibom Christmas Carols Festival, the largest gathering of carol singers in the world under the auspices of the Governor of the Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria. Harmonious Chorale has also hosted Vocal Concertisten of Germany and Brigham Young Collegiate Choir, USA.
In partnership with the Salt and Light Music Ministry, Harmonious Chorale has performed the works of twelve Ghanaian (12) Composers under the “An Evening with a Composer Series”, showcasing the works of Ghanaian composers to the world such as Prof. Emeritus J.H. Nketia,, Dr. Ephraim Amu, Prof. Yaw Sakyi Baidoo, Rev. Newlove Annan, George Mensah Essilfie, Sam Asare-Bediako, amongst others.
The Harmonious Chorale has also partnered with the Ministry of Education of the Government of Ghana to record the theme song for the Government of Ghana’s Free SHS, with the music composed by its Executive Director, Mr. James Varrick Armaah.
The Multimedia Group is currently the Official Media Partner of The Harmonious Chorale-Ghana.
EVENTS AND IMPACT
In October 2017, Harmonious Chorale staged the biggest choral music event in Ghana dubbed “Nyame Ye Concert” to mark its 10th Anniversary Celebration.
In attendance was the Former President of Ghana, H.E. Jerry John Rawlings, and the Ambassador of the Royal Netherlands Embassy in Ghana, the Deputy Minister of Interior and the Member of Parliament for the Ayawaso Central, Hon. Henry Quartey and many more High Profiled Executives.
For the past ten(10) years, the Harmonious Chorale has been noted for drawing thousands of audiences to its organized concerts and events almost always to the overflow of the auditorium including the one thousand, five hundred (1,500) seating National Theatre and the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC). The Harmonious Chorale brand appeals to ranking members of the clergy, high ranking Government Officials, members of the Diplomatic Corps, Corporate leaders and Executives and the youth both in and outside of Ghana.
Over the years, the choir has staged four major oratorios; THE CREATION by Joseph Haydn in 2011, Mendelssohn’s ELIJAH in 2013, THE MESSIAH by G.F. Handel in 2014, and for the first time in Africa, JOSEPH AND HIS BRETHREN by G.F. Handel in 2017.
The Choir has also performed at several functions such as the launching of the Head of States Awards Scheme (HOSA) 2018 – 29th March, 2018, Unveiling of the Design for the National Cathedral – 6th March, 2018. 25th Anniversary of the 4th Republic of Ghana – January 7, 2018, Luncheon with the President – December 25th 2017, 73rd birthday Celebration of the President- March 29th 2017, etc.
AWARDS
The choir has also won many awards in Ghana, the most recent being “Best Choral Group” at the Shine Awards 2018, organised to award excellence in Christian Creativity in the Arts and Entertainment Industry.

PROJECT
The Harmonious Chorale is currently constructing a store room for the Akuse Prisons. This project is aimed at reducing about 50% of post-harvest losses of farm produce due to their lack of store room.
